Medieval North India:
The original name of Makan sharief was ''Rattar Chattar''.It was located on a high mound on the left bank of river Ravi.It was the governing seat of a Hindu Raja named Chattar Dhari.May be Dhari Chand, and Chattar(The RoyalUmbrella)under which his throne was kept.So he was famous by the name of Chattar Dhari.
